Objective: To investigate the relationship between the promoter region polymorphism of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) gene and coronary heart disease (CAD) and coronary stent restenosis (ISR). Methods: The databases of PubMed, EMbase, CBM, CNKI, VIP and WanFang Data were searched by computer, and the correlation between HO-1 gene polymorphism and the risk of coronary heart disease and ISR was searched. The search period was up to May 2016 with Stata12. 0 software for meta-analysis. Results: Correlation between HO-1 (GT) n repeat polymorphisms and coronary heart disease: A total of 13 case-control studies were included, including 7,835 patients with coronary artery disease and 5,372 controls. Meta-analysis showed that among Asian populations HO-1 (GT) n polymorphism is associated with coronary heart disease. HO-1 (GT) n Polymorphism and Coronary ISR Correlation: A total of 6 prospective cohort studies were included, including 972 ISR patients and 4 052 controls. Meta-analysis showed that HO-1 (GT) ) n Polymorphism is associated with the risk of developing ISR. HO-1T (-413) A Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Associated with Coronary Heart Disease: A total of 4 case-control studies were included, including 3 323 coronary heart disease patients and 4 757 controls. Meta-analysis showed HO-1T (-413) A polymorphism is associated with the risk of coronary heart disease. CONCLUSIONS: HO-1 (GT) n repeat polymorphisms in population are associated with risk of coronary heart disease and coronary artery disease. The risk of coronary heart disease and ISR is significantly lower in those with short repeat S or SS genes. HO-1T (-413) A is associated with the development of coronary heart disease. The risk of coronary heart disease is significantly lower in those with A or AA gene.
