2015年9月下旬,国家科技部火炬中心公布了对全国114个国家高新区和苏州工业园共115个单位的评价。中山火炬高新区综合排名第25名,在广东省内仅次于深圳高新区和广州高新区。同年11月,国务院正式下发《关于同意珠三角国家高新区建设国家自主创新示范区的批复》,中山火炬高新区与珠三角其他7个国家高新区一同纳入珠三角国家自主创新示范区范围。这也是全国首个以城市群为单位的国家自主创新示范区。
In late September 2015, the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the evaluation of a total of 115 units in 114 high-tech zones in China and Suzhou Industrial Park. Zhongshan Torch Hi-tech Zone integrated ranked No. 25 in Guangdong Province, second only to Shenzhen High-tech Zone and Guangzhou High-tech Zone. In November of the same year, the State Council formally issued the Reply on Consenting the Establishment of National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone in the National High-tech Zone of the Pearl River Delta. The Zhongshan Torch Hi-tech Zone and the other seven high-tech zones in the Pearl River Delta were all included in the scope of the National Demonstration Zone of the Pearl River Delta. This is also the first demonstration area of national independent innovation in the urban agglomeration.
