In 1844, Karl Benz, a German engineer, was born in a train driver’s home and had an affinity with the car since childhood. After graduating from the Technical School of Karlsruhe in 1866, he was hired to a machine shop as an engineer, which laid the practical foundation for his car career. In 1872, he founded a machinery factory in Mannheim, engaged in metallurgical foundry and machine building, and started to work on the development of motor vehicle power plants. After tireless efforts, Benches finally succeeded in developing a two-stroke engine in 1879, making the machinery factory on the brink of bankruptcy come back to life.
