As part of social groups, the elderly have a dual identity. They are both citizens and seniors. Therefore, they have universal and particular protection of their legitimate rights and interests. First of all, the elderly are part of the community and, as ordinary citizens, their legitimate rights and interests are within the general protection of the law. The protection of the basic rights and interests of citizens in our constitution, civil law and criminal law all includes the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly. Second, as a special group of social members, the elderly are relatively disadvantaged in society. Therefore, the law
