几年前,一位美国戏剧评论家在接受某一“戏剧贡献奖”时说:“好的批评家的存在是我们振兴戏剧最好的保障之一。丢去这个保障将是一个极大的损失,我认为其损失程度之大并未被戏剧界所认识。”他还说:“掩盖这一点是无用的,戏剧界敏感的智者们对演剧批评的前途失去了信心,他们许多人已放弃了演剧批评工作而转向戏剧文学,批评理论,美学分析……”也就是说,戏剧批评家们因对前景失去信心,纷纷转向、改行、下海;想不到遥远的大洋彼岸,戏剧批评
