In the 1960s, French classrooms began to use comic books to help students better understand the text. In fact, comic books are not only helpful in understanding the role of text, but are themselves valuable teaching materials. Comic strip, as a discourse genre that combines narration with words and images, has its own unique symbolic system of language. Based on the multimodal discourse features of comic and graphic parallelism, this article explores how to effectively use the structure and narrative features of foreign language teaching to stimulate students’ enthusiasm for communication and interaction so as to improve their language skills.
