The ancient copper mine site located in Daye County, Hubei Province, was an important discovery after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It revealed the production of ancient mining and smelting copper and filled a gap in the history of metallurgy in our country. It has important academic value. In 1982 it was announced by the State Council as one of the second batch of national key cultural relics protection units. This important discovery was originally triggered by a letter. It happened 20 years ago On October 20, 1973, the China History Museum received a letter from the Revolutionary Committee of Tonglushan Mine in Daye County, Hubei Province (Figure 1), and also sent an ancient copper ax ).
