It has been found that bacterial infection is associated with the formation of cholesteatoma. The accumulation of keratin debris is a determinant of the growth of cholesteatoma. And ear cholesteatoma is an ideal medium for bacteria. To explore the relationship between bacterial infection and cholesteatoma, we investigated in vitro the effects of Iipoteichoic acid LTA (a Gram-positive bacterial cell wall component) on keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation.
