Oceania literature can be broadly divided into two aspects: one is Australian and New Zealand literature, and the other is South Pacific English literature in Fiji and Papua New Guinea. As we all know, both Australia and New Zealand were originally British colonies. Therefore, the two countries’ literature was deeply influenced by British literature from the outset. This is the colonial literature in the literary history of the two countries. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the nationalist movement in Australia tended to rise. Sydney’s “Gazette” magazine published a special column entitled “Red Pages” in order to promote the development of national literature.
