I. Preface Any geological processes are complex, the East China Sea is no exception, the deposition process has the characteristics of long-term, inheritance and superposition. Therefore, it is more complicated to reflect changes in mineral assemblages and their distribution, and there are many influencing factors. However, the use of mathematical geologic methods can help us find and identify its main influencing factors, identify their interrelationships, and even establish a quantitative description of the model. This is exactly one of the problems in the study of traditional geology. With regard to the mineralogy of the sediments in the East China Sea, we have done some work in recent years and made preliminary understandings. On this basis, this paper attempts to use mathematical geology methods to quantitatively study the three kinds of environmental sediments in the East China Sea shelf area: modern, mixed and residual
