At present, the novel goes into the illusion of false prosperity. In fact, fewer and fewer people read novels, and even limited to researchers, college teachers and students and a small group of intellectuals. Of course, such a situation can not simply be attributed to readers or to human beings. Because, in the information age, the knowledge impact and visual hegemony brought by the Internet era have severely compressed the territory of the novel; however, the root of the problem comes from the novel itself. The evolution of fiction into stories, the fascination with violence, the theme of sexuality, and the change in the pursuit of the interests of the creative subjects all make the novel gradually lose its once dominant status. Compared with other literary styles, the decline of novels also marks the defeat of literature. However, we need to reorganize and nurture our feelings and nerves, and strive to experience, discover and feel those innocent and beautiful novels. We must strive to find new elements and new growth points for the development of novels. Only in this way can fiction and literature move toward true freedom and liberation, and truly achieve the ideal space and future.
