Infection is one of the most common complications of patients with diabetic foot. Although it can cause significant complications (including lower extremity amputations) and death, its best treatment has not been widely agreed guidelines. No major reviews have been published on the scientific evidence of treatment options. The American Society of Infectious Diseases (IDSA, USA) and the National Institute of Health and Clinical Evaluation (NICE, UK) are currently developing guidelines for treating diabetic foot infections that will be based on evidence-based medical evidence and NICE’s guidelines Based on a systematic review of the literature. The International Diabetes Foot Working Group (IWGDF) published in 2008 an evidence-based medical guide to diabetic foot osteomyelitis. This review focuses on treatment and does not cover the definition of infection, diagnostic methods, and important bacterial colonization and infection.
