Driving a bare LCD does not necessarily require specialized interface circuitry or peripherals, but you can do it with a microcontroller’s universal output. Many embedded system applications need to communicate with users by using simple numeric or alphanumeric characters. 7 or 14 LED display has a variety of specifications, and the price is not high, it is also very easy to buy. However, such displays consume more power and are less readable in daylight and therefore only apply to battery-operated portable devices.
