The East China Sea, located between China’s east coast and the Pacific Ocean, is a semi-enclosed sea connecting Jeju Island to the Yellow Sea in the north, China to the west, and the Ryukyu Islands to the east, Kyushu to the south, and the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea to the south. The total area of about 750,000 square kilometers. Since the 1960s to the present, the disputes over the demarcation of the East China Sea and the maritime rights and interests between the two countries have intensified due to the changes and vagueness in the rules governing the demarcation of the demarcation line imposed by the rich petroleum resources in the East China Sea and the maritime regime of international law.
