1. The difference between the definition of inertia and Newton’s first law Some students often confuse the definition of “inertia” with “Newton’s first law”. They think that an object has inertia only when it is not affected by an external force. In order to correct this misunderstanding, teachers should emphasize the difference between them: inertia is an intrinsic property of all objects, and it is a feature that “the object has the original uniform motion state or the stationary state,” and it is not changed by external conditions. Newton’s first law is a law of motion that studies the state of motion of an object when it is not subjected to an external force. It points out that "the object remains in a state of uniform linear motion or is stationary.
