From November 7 to November 10, 2003, I participated in the “First China Education Science Forum” held in Suzhou. The biggest impression this forum gave me was that representatives from educational scientific research institutes, universities, and primary and secondary schools at all levels had different expectations for educational science research, and expressed in more academic language, that is, there existed producers and users of educational knowledge. Two cultural conflicts. On the train returning to Beijing, I was with two teachers from Ye and He from Tixi County, Yili, Xinjiang. As key teachers, they were sent to Shigang Elementary School in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province to study the teaching concepts of “new curriculum standards”. The conversation with them made me feel the impressions and feelings of the teachers in the new curriculum. It may be that the leaders of the new curriculum and educational researchers should understand it.
