One of the major considerations for designers when implementing 100 Mbps Ethernet networks is how to maintain compatibility with existing 10 Mbps nodes. One measure of the IEEE802.3u 100Mbps Ethernet network is to adapt the link itself to the configuration itself. This is especially desirable for hybrid 10 and 100 Mbps networks.
