未熟、低熟烃源岩中的脂肪酸赋存于抽提沥青和干酪根中, 沥青脂肪酸主要以酯键结合于沥青的非烃组分内, 干酪根脂肪酸以酯醚键结合于干酪根网络结构中, 有一部分是与干酪根网络结构结合更紧密的强干酪根脂肪酸. 辽河盆地与济阳拗陷未熟、低熟烃源岩的沥青脂肪酸含量在0.010 0%~0.073 9%, 干酪根脂肪酸为0.005 0%~0.045 5%, 强干酪根脂肪酸为0.000 5%~0.010 5%, 其中一元脂肪酸占70%~100%, 二元脂肪酸占0~30%, 羟基酸<10%. 沥青中赋存的脂肪酸主要是一元脂肪酸, 碳数分布较宽, 碳链较长, 二元脂肪酸和羟基酸很少, 干酪根中含有较多二元脂肪酸和少量羟基酸, 碳数分布较窄, 碳链较短. 未熟、低熟烃源岩中的脂肪酸生烃作用, 主要依靠沥青一元脂肪酸.
