Due to the relative concentration of creative time and the limited number of plays, Sonia Sanchez’s play is far less recognized in our country than her poetry. In fact, these works occupy a very important position in the American drama and play a positive role in promoting the development of the black literary movement. Like his poems, Sanchez’s plays are not only the artistic practice of the author in seeking his own political ideal, but also the artist’s artistic expression of courage in innovation in his literary creation, and the war on white political discourse and black male traditional discourse檄 text. Although her drama is not radical but rational thinking, its main purpose is to awaken black women’s group awareness, political awareness and awareness of resistance, prompting their ideas and concepts of a qualitative change, thus completing the construction of self-identity.
