David Quint’s new book, The Lost Paradise, talks about the dialogue between Milton and the traditional epic poets such as Homer and Virgil and the unique and irreproducible personal ability of Milton The encyclopedic interpretation of Paradise reveals Milton’s opening of another epic tradition while ending an epic tradition in Lost Paradise, thus pushing Milton’s epic innovation to an unprecedented level. This article explores how this new work can reinterpret Milton’s epic design through the paradoxical paradigm of “Lost Paradise” and the epic tradition, so as to reveal Milton’s subversion and rewriting of the epic tradition, The Revolutionary Contribution of Milton Epic Research.
