As far as the geographical location is concerned, the Korean Peninsula lies between China and the Japanese archipelago. Therefore, the Korean nation has close ties with China and Japan in politics, economy, culture and military affairs. The Korean and Japanese nationalities actively absorb the advanced culture of the Han nationality. Chinese plays an active role in the formation of Japanese and Korean languages. The most obvious manifestation is the production of Korean-Chinese words. Under the influence of the Han nationality culture, the North Koreans have used Chinese characters to record the incidents of their own ethnic groups for a long period of time. Therefore, Chinese words have always been an important part of Korean language and play an important role. This essay explains the Chinese characterization of Korean through the exposition of the early Sino-Korean language exchange and the analysis of the language components and sources of Korean borrowing from Chinese.
