Two new steroidal saponins, diuranthosides D and E, were isolated from the whole plant of Diuranthera inarticulata Wang et K. Y. Lang. By means of spectral and chemical analysis, the structure of the new compounds were established as neotigogenin-3-O-(-D-glucopyranosyl (1?3)-(-D-xylopyranosyl-(1?3)-[(-D-glucopyranosyl(1?2)]-(-D-glucopyranosyl(1?4)-(-D-galactopyranoside (1) and neotigogenin-3-O-(-D-glucopyranosyl(1?3)-(-D-glucopyranosyl (1?3)-(-D-xylopyranosyl(1?3)-[(-D-glucopyranosyl(1?2)]-(-D-glucopyranosyl(1?4)-(-D-galactopyranoside (2) respectively.
