虾青素是一种脂溶性的强抗氧化剂,它能透过血脑屏障,通过其强大的抗氧化和抗炎症作用来保护神经元。虾青素也能影响神经元凋亡相关的分子与信号通路来避免神经元凋亡。近年来研究者应用离体神经元及活体动物大脑对虾青素的神经保护作用及其机制进行了深入的研究,虾青素作为神经保护药物也已进入人体临床试验阶段。虾青素来源广泛,神经保护作用明显,因此具有作为预防及治疗神经系统疾病药物的潜力。“,”Astaxanthin is a strong lipid soluble antioxidant.It is able to protect neurons due to its anti-inflammatory property and strong ability to neutralize other oxidants .Other characteristics include being able to pass through the blood-brain barrier and its effects on molecules and signals in the neuronal apoptosis path-way have been found to be able to prevent neuronal apoptosis.In recent years,researchers have used living animal brains and neurons in vitro to investigate astaxanthin′s mechanisms and properties in protecting the nervous system,which has now entered clinical trials.Due to having a convincing effect in the protection of the nervous system,and the fact that it can be extracted from a plethora of sources,astaxanthin has shown promising potential in the prevention and treatment of neurologic diseases.
