Nicholas Murray (1892-1965) was born in Hungary, studied art school at the age of 12, where he learned lithography, typography and photography. After graduation he continued to learn color photography and learned how to filter. He moved to the United States in 1913 to work for publisher Kant Nast, and in 1920 opened his own studio in Greenwich. He positioned himself as a commercial photographer, shot a large number of food photos, and later Murray became a famous portrait photographer and advertising photographer. From 1910 to 1920, he photographed more than 10,000 works for Fashion, Vanity Fair and Harper’s Bazaar. At the same time, he also took photos of celebrities such as leaders, businessmen and dance stars and became the most famous royal photographer at the time.
