茂腔是流行于山东潍坊、青岛、日照等地的汉族地方戏曲剧种,曾有“周姑子”、“肘鼓子”、“轴棍子”、“正歌子”等名称,属“肘鼓子”声腔系统,被誉为“胶东之花”。在不断的发展过程中,“肘鼓子”受到不同地域方言、民俗及其它民间音乐的影响,分别发展为东路肘鼓子、北路肘鼓子(扽腔或灯腔)、五音戏、茂腔和柳腔,形成了一个独具特色、流布广泛、同源异流的戏曲剧种种群。2006年,茂腔被列入第一批国家非物质文化遗产,突显其传承及艺术价值。

In 2006, Mauchao was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage, highlighting its heritage and artistic value.
