“仁”和“义”是中国传统文化中最重要、最关键的两个字眼,不仅是最高尚的道德追求,更是大而化之的社会政治理想。相对而言,“仁”高居庙堂之上,多指统治者驾驭群臣之术,是统治者们向天下所摆出的一种姿态而“义”则更多地出现在民间,是人民热切期望的抛开物质享受和利诱,不顾一切甚至牺牲生命的对于最高道德理想的追求。“义”字在中国传统文化中,总是或多或少地与“牺牲”联系在一起,诸如“大义灭亲”.“舍生取义”和“义无反顾”之类,都显得十分决绝。生存环境的险恶,使人们认识到实现最高道德理想的路途充满艰辛,不作出牺牲是难以成功的。因此,在某种意义上,“牺牲”也就成了“义”的代名词。
