犹如地面汽车装油多便跑的距离远一样,空中的飞机如载油多航程就能更远、更能发挥效能。可是飞机设计限于原本功能和用途,只能装载有限的油。如果空中飞机耗油能及时得到补充,就会免去飞机因加油起落等很多麻烦,增加留空时间。因而,国外的一些军事家把空中加油技术称之为“提高飞机作战效能的一个关键”。因此,在美国军用标准中规定:所有新机都要具备窄中加受油的能力或具有空中加油使用的空间和结构措施。现在美国几乎所有战斗机、轰炸机和军用运输机都具有空中加受油的能力。
Just as a car on the ground can run much as far as loading, the airborne aircraft can travel farther and carry more efficiency as long as it carries oil. However, the aircraft design is limited to the original function and use, can only load a limited amount of oil. If the air plane fuel can be timely replenishment, will be exempt from the aircraft due to refueling and landing a lot of trouble, to increase the time left blank. Therefore, some foreign military experts call the refueling technology “a key to improving the operational effectiveness of aircraft”. Therefore, it is stipulated in the U.S. military standards that all new aircraft have the capability of narrowing in and adding oil or have the space and structural measures for air refueling. Almost all fighters, bombers and military transport aircraft in the United States now have the capability of adding oil to the air.
