INTRODUCTION Fertilization trials were conducted in 1969 in two different site types in the 55-year-old Pinus banksiana L.anb., Near Dryden, Ontario. One of these (Level I, Plonski 1960), Zoltai 1965, is believed to belong to Afverfree silt formed from glaciers. The thoracic profile of the stands grown on this type of moraine was 32 m 2 / ha and the product volume was 252 m 3 / ha. It does not respond strongly to fertilizers.
