Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) is a dipeptide hydrolase. It has the effect of converting angiotensin I (ANGI) into angiotensin II (ANG II). ANG II is an octapeptide with a wide range of biological activities in the body, especially in the cardiovascular system, which is related to a variety of functional regulation. In 1965, Ferreira et al. isolated a factor from the venom of a poisonous snake (Bothrops jararaca) in Brazil that inhibited the conversion of ANG to ANG II and enhanced the effect of bradykinin (BK). A mixture of nine peptides. 1971
