苏州美术专科学校为颜文樑创办于1922年7月。初办时称苏州美术暑期学校,校址在海红坊苏州律师公会会所。教师有胡粹中、朱士杰、顾仲华、程少华四人。分中、西画两组,招进学生100余人,学习二月结束。普遍反映时间太短。遂于9月份成立苏州美术学校,学制两年。第一期招生,入学学生14人。为张紫玛、张念珍、龚启锐、钱永禄、诸长珍、张杰、黄觉寺、程慈、曹克崇、徐晋韶、徐传扬、姚启鹏、吴怀高、沈飞。同时聘请顾公柔、金东雷分别教授国画和文学课,雇工友一人。时校址已迁至沧浪亭对面县立中
