明朝中后期艺术品市场呈现出较为繁荣的景象,呈现出以下几个特征:一是艺术品市场中收藏群体的扩大,艺术品市场的收藏者从权贵、士人扩展到中小商人和普通百姓;二是职业交易人经营范围的分工呈现出细化和专业化的倾向,这些在市场上活跃着的专业中介者,与艺术品收藏者、供应者建立了长期的固定联系;三是专门经营艺术品的店铺开设越来越普遍,在艺术品市场发达的地区,集市也会有艺术品交易;四是需求的旺盛和丰厚的利润加剧了赝品的制作和泛滥,从而使这一时期成为艺术史上一个作伪高峰。
