美国rupprecht&patashnick公司发展了一种新型的质量监测系统一锥形元件振荡式微量天平(简称TEOM,下同).该系统为柴油机排气、空气污染、粉尘浓度、烟囱排烟、蒸汽沉积以及物质中气体分离等许多领域的实时监测开辟了独具一格的途径.TEOM的动作元件是由高机械性能材料制成的锥形管.管子在大端处被牢靠地固定,小端处支着一基板.基板可由任何材料构成并可做成各种形状.以一反馈系统使锥形管产生振荡,其振荡频率的变化便反映出基板上质量的变化.
