Discerning ability is a core skill of higher education. How to combine the training of speculative ability in the teaching of lectures plays a crucial role in cultivating foreign language professionals. The article begins with the connotation of speculative ability, then analyzes the relationship between speech teaching and speculative ability, and finally explores how to cultivate the speculative ability in English speech teaching.
