According to Nature Materials (2017,16: 537-542), a research team led by Professor Cheon J from the Nanomedicine Center of the Institute of Basic Science in Seoul, South Korea, has developed a new nano-MRI lamp: In the presence of disease, the new technology platform will “light up” the MRI signal. This nano-MRI lamp can overcome the limitations of existing MRI contrast agents. MRI is a non-invasive, very popular noninvasive diagnostic technique. Some tissues in the human body have natural contrast on MRI, but some special types of tissue are required to use contrast media to increase the contrast between the target area and the rest of the body.
