A research team composed of Prof. Otani Junzhao of the Graduate School of Kyushu University in Japan announced that the team has successfully developed a carbon fiber building material that is 10 to 40 times stronger than steel and can greatly reduce costs. Buildings made of this type of building material have a lifetime that is more than 1 times longer than that of reinforced concrete, and the amount of cement used can also be reduced. The seismic performance is 2 to 4 times stronger. This is the new technology that was developed for the first time in the world. According to Professor Ota, “The reinforced concrete building that has lasted for more than 100 years may undergo a great change.”
