Our study of the heritability and variability of cotton proves that utilization of the genus and species potential in actual breeding efforts is not sufficient for both the most important species of cotton and the other species of Malvaceae. 1934 With the first inter-genus of cotton and Malvaceae (Azalea × hollyhock) obtained, we began a systematic search and selection of different species of Malvaceae. First of all, pay attention to the selection of representatives of Malva, including samples of wild plants (mallow, hollyhock, etc.) and samples of hibiscus. The collected materials were analyzed in detail with their biological characteristics (precocity, seedability, resistance to diseases and agricultural pests, etc.) using taxonomic methods. The results of the analysis were used as the basis for future selection of raw materials for crossbreeding with cotton Foundation.
