Sulfonylureas increase the number of insulin receptors and may explain the extra-pancreatic effects of sulfonylureas in lowering blood glucose. Endothelial cells cause a similar “retention of insulin” effect by reducing insulin disruption. The authors studied 8 cases of non-complication NIDDM, mean age 56 years, male 6, female 2, height 169cm, weight 71kg, average diabetes 5 years, no medication, liver and kidney function is normal, no malabsorption, nor any other Endocrine disease. Glibenclamide (GBC) test: Serum insulin, C-peptide and blood glucose were measured before, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 and 360 minutes after oral GBC 0.1 mg · kg ~ (-1)
