随着中国经济的高速增长,以及国家土地政策的改革,及至最根本的人民居住环境的改善,中国房地产已成为世界规模最大、价值最高、增长最为迅猛的行业,并开始从数量规模型步入质量艺术型的转轨期。中国庞大且荟革精华的建筑业架构开始积极探索与国际建筑文化的交流融合,中国到了该出世界级现代经典建筑的时代了。借助双年展、以及国家三大政府工程(国家大剧院、中央电视台新台址、2008年奥运会主体育馆)的共同作用,大部分人开始关注、认识建筑师,认识建筑,第一次将建筑与艺术提高到一个新的高度来思考,而放弃我们沿用多年的功能至上原则。
