“Cultural and Historical Knowledge” No. 11, 1994, containing Comrade Chen Guosheng’s article, “Chimonanthus, Yangmei and Climate Change” (hereinafter referred to as Chen Wen), tried to use plants as a mirror of the climate and made use of ancient books about the relationship between Chimonanthus praecox and Myrica rubra It is a good thing to record and discuss changes in ancient climate. However, due to the fact that Chen Wen does not distinguish Mei, Chimonanthus and Yangmei, Zhang Guanli Dai seems plausible, and the whole proposition can hardly be discussed clearly.
