Bamboo in the Chinese classical garden has a full use of various forms, “no bamboo is not a garden ” the fact that it far beyond the general ornamental plants positioning, we need to be deeper cultural implications to be analyzed. Although “Gentleman Beidaijue” in the past can partly explain people’s preference for bamboo, it is still not enough to explain why “No Bamboo is Popular” was established and reached a consensus. By examining why the bamboo in the Wei and Jin Dynasties entered the cultural horizon, the author thinks that bamboo actually points to the spiritual freedom above reality and politics. Urban private garden as a buffer zone out of place, because of “hidden” ambition everywhere and need to use bamboo forest spring symbolize the image. Bamboo balances the tension between the common pursuit of fame and fortune and the indifference of indifference. Therefore, “there is no custom in bamboo” as the surpassing of officialdom and materialism, the spiritual world of Scholar-officials and even the ancient Chinese political consciousness Can not be underestimated role.
