2006年随着M17井在上石炭统卡拉岗组玄武岩、安山岩储集层中获得高产油气流,揭开了三塘湖盆地石炭系火山岩油气藏勘探开发的序幕。截止目前,已经查明优质储量5000×104t左右,成为吐哈油田油气储量增长和产能建设的重要领域。而火山岩储集层描述则是制约该层系油气勘探开发的难点,为此,介绍了通过多学科联合研发所形成的火山岩岩性岩相描述、测井火山岩岩性识别、地震火山岩岩体识别等火山岩储集层描述技术,该技术为下一步寻找优质火山岩储集层具有指导意义,对三塘湖盆地石炭系火山岩油气藏的勘探和开发奠定了基础。
