We examined the impact of the collision between the Indian and Eurasian continental blocks on the regional structure and deposition near the central equator of the Indian Ocean at Marine Paragraph 116, where the collision zone with the Himalayas exceeded 3000 km (Figure 1). We found that the main uplift in the Himalayas started earlier in the Miocene than previously reported, and we also investigated the time and nature of the faulting episodes produced by intraplate deformation in large areas, And sedimentation.
