The podzols of Val Camonica(Southern Alps of Brescia).On the basis of the morphologi-cal observations and laboratory analyses,some soil profiles of Val Camonica which show a podzolic-typeevolution,are described and classified according to taxonomic criteria.The lithological material affectedby podzolisation both belong to the post-Würmian moraine and debris covers and to the alpine crystalli-ne,to the Adamello Tertiary intrusive rocks and to the Permian-Carboniferous sandstones and conglome-rates.The criteria of identification of the diagnostic horizons are discussed in detail.Some aspects ofthe evolutive relationships between soils,topography,vegetation and climate are also considered.
