“The Lady of the Butcher” is the fourth novel of the American-Chinese American writer Amy Tan. Through a narrative perspective of the three parts of the novel, she focuses on a manuscript and tells a totally different story of a woman from three generations of her family. A Chinese woman in an anonymous age who swallowed boiling ink because of violence against men; a Chinese woman who wandered into the United States and suffered from dementia in old age; and one who had a bizarre episode of intermittent aphasia. It is by no means a coincidence that the “aphasias” of three people are not only personal but also collective; not only linguistically but also psychologically and politically. The author Amy Tan in the creation of novel characters, respectively, the integration of the historical factors and cultural factors at the time, the female soul struggles, resistance, rejection, commissioning whole to reposition the whole process lifelike show to us, let us feel deeper touch .
