淮阴抽水站是京杭运河续建工程的重要项目之一,设计流量一百二十秒立米,四台机组,每台配有二千千瓦立式同步发电机,类同江都抽水站的第四站,主要任务是为京杭运河补给水源。该站位于高良涧越闸以东七百米、苏北灌溉总渠北堤的北侧,与入海水道新泄洪闸相邻,进水引河连接总渠,出水经高良涧越闸入二河。计划一九八五年建成投产,可将江都站,淮安站抽引的江水,提入洪泽湖或向北输送。不仅能给北方缺水地区送水,而且对发展京杭运河的航运、补给徐州电厂用水、解决南四湖地区的用水矛盾、改善淮北
