秃杉无性繁殖,被昌宁县林业局林业工程师代金明,在野外研究的高位髓切接法和高位髓腹接法获得成功。1989年,代金明用40年生的母树枝条,在定植一年后的秃杉幼树上,采用高位髓切接法和高位髓腹接法,先后嫁接秃杉6000株,嫁接7个月后调查,成活5200株,成活率达86.7％。1990年,他先后嫁接秃杉4000株,嫁接8个月后调查,成活3700株,成活率达92.5％。
