Most of the latest triaxial digital MEMS accelerometers on the market can generate interrupts for multiple applications. Some are common applications, including screen rotation, wake-up, free fall, and click and double-click recognition, designers can implement these applications in a variety of devices. A digital MEMS accelerometer usually has one or two interrupt output pins that can interface with the external host processor’s I / O pins. The accelerometer can be configured to monitor acceleration or motion in the background or the accelerometer can only be in a low-power sleep mode when the host processor is doing other tasks. When the accelerometer detects an interrupt, the main processor can wake up to see if an interrupt service needs to be provided.
