虽说NFS(网络文件系统)服务器在局域网的文件传输方面技高一筹,但是SMB对相当多的用户而言仍不乏吸引力。采用了UDP(用户数据报协议,User Datagram Protocol)的NFS比采用了TCP的SMB要快,大约快百分之七到百分之十七。如果仅仅是传输单个文件,FTP比NFS或者SMB都要快。但是FTP不如NFS和SMB那么容易使用,尤其是传输多个文件时,FTP的缺点更加明显。一般来说,将一般大小的文件下载到客户机,都比将它从客户机上载要快,大概快百分之五到百分之七十不等,这一点无论对SMB或NFS都是如此。不同品牌的NFS服务器和客户机在性能上可能相差甚远。原因是每个销售商都会根据不同的多种因素进行折衷,或者是用户自己选择了可自定义选项。对于系统管理员来说,在正式承诺购买之前,必须确认他们想要购买的NFS客户机能和他们想买的NFS服务器协同工作。因为在市场上,有些客户机和服务器之间确实不能协同工作,而有些则需要专门开发的版本才行。最后,客户机的设置和能力是决定任何NFS连接性能的主要因素,它们决定了协议和报文的大小。

Different brands of NFS servers and clients may differ in their performance. The reason for this is that each vendor makes tradeoffs based on a number of different factors, or the user has chosen customizable options. For system administrators, before making a formal commitment to make a purchase, you must verify that the NFS clients they want to purchase can work with the NFS server they want to buy. Because in the market, some clients and servers really can not work together, while others require a specially developed version of Caixing. Finally, client setup and capabilities are the main determinants of any NFS connection’s performance, which determines the size of the protocol and the packets.
