英国诗人丁尼生的叙事诗《公主》,最初以中国传统章回小说的体例被译介到中国,题为《公主之提倡女学》。这一译本较之于原诗,在文体、内容、审美风格等诸多方面发生了显著变化。这既与原诗内容和译者的翻译主旨相关,也与“小说”这一文体的特征和功能密不可分,同时反映了晚清到“五四”前后中国小说的文学地位和文学处境的变化。《公主之提倡女学》为译者如何合理利用本民族的文学传统,从而使译文与原著在审美上相映成趣、更好地与译入语文化相融合,提供了诸多启示及成功的翻译范本。
The narrative poem “Princess” of British poet Tennyson was first translated to China by the style of Chinese traditional chapter novels, entitled “The princess advocates female school.” Compared with the original poem, this version has undergone significant changes in style, content, aesthetic style and many other aspects. This is not only related to the content of the original poem and the translating theme of the translator, but also to the features and functions of the style of “Novel”, and at the same time reflects the literary status of Chinese novels before and after the May 4th Movement of the late Qing Dynasty Changes in literary situation. “Princess advocates feminism” as the translator how to make rational use of the national literary tradition, so that the translation and the original in the aesthetic side of the fun, and better integration into the translation into the language, provided a number of inspiration and successful translation paradigm .
