鲜为人知的俗名日本九二式7.7mm重机枪,是日本于昭和天皇七年(公元1932年),在三年式重机枪的基础上,经局部改进而成的制式重机枪,因当年为日本神武纪年2592年,故将其年式定为“九二式”。九二式重机枪主要是将口径由三年式重机枪的6.5mm改为7.7mm,将“框式把手”改为呈“八”字布局的“拐式把手”以及在枪口加了可以取下的防火帽等。这些改动比较细微,一般人若不是特别注意,通常不易分别。不过在这两型重机枪的机匣上方,分别刻有“九二式”和“三年式”,一看便可分辨出来。九二式重机枪是日军在第二次世界大战时期分队的主战制式自动武器,主要由枪身、枪架和副品等三大部分组成。
